There are professional meetings that remain etched in memory. Not because of a large budget, nor an international brand. But because they carry something true.

This is exactly what I felt the day Kathy Laurain, the managing optician of the Optique Pelus store in Neuves-Maisons, contacted me to help her celebrate something exceptional: the 60th anniversary of her store.

Sixty years. A family story, a neighborhood story, a trust built over generations. A story that deserved to be told with as much care as it was lived.

Optique Pelus: 60 years of a human story in Neuves-Maisons

Neuves-Maisons, 54230 — a municipality in Meurthe-et-Moselle where local businesses are part of the social fabric. Optique Pelus has held a special place there for six decades. The store has accompanied entire generations: a child's first glasses, a grandfather's progressive lenses, a teenager's trendy frames. It's not just eyes that are corrected here — it's a long-lasting relationship that is maintained.

At the head of this place of life, Kathy Laurain embodies a rare vision in local commerce: authenticity as a strategy. Managing optician, Google Local Guide (66 reviews), winner of a Women Entrepreneurship Trophy (EAF54), she has never given up her independence or her values to grow.

The mission: to give a soul to a birthday

Kathy entrusted me with two missions: to create the official poster for the 60th anniversary and to cover the event to make a retrospective video.

A poster is the first glance the world has at a significant moment. It must embody 60 years of history in a single glance.

The video, on the other hand, was to tell an adventure. To show that behind every pair of glasses sold, there are hands, smiles, stories. To show Kathy as she is: whole, human, passionate.

My process is always the same: listen first, create next. Understand what the client wants to convey before picking up the camera.

22,000 views: when a local video touches universal

The retrospective video was released. And something happened.

Over 22,000 views on social media. Comments from people who had been child customers, long-time loyal customers, other opticians who were inspired by it. It’s not viral in the mechanical sense — it’s viral because the content touches on something deeply human.

What these numbers prove: a well-told local story can have a national impact — even beyond. The secret is not the budget. It’s authenticity.

What Kathy says — in her own words

“I asked Rémy to create the poster for the 60th anniversary of my store and also to cover the event. I really enjoyed working with him because he took the time to listen to me in order to understand my vision and the message I wanted to convey. He made me a superb retrospective video that received over 20,000 views on social media. Rémy is a dynamic and very human person, I invite you to form your own opinion with your eyes closed — but not too closed, otherwise you won't be able to appreciate his work.”

My response — because this project deserves a public thank you

“Thank you Kathy, this message touches me a lot. The 60th anniversary of Optique Pelus holds a special place for me: it was while working on your poster and your video that I became certain of pursuing my project and creating Artivisio Studio. Seeing a story of over 60 years come to life in images, and touching so many people — over 22,000 views — confirmed to me that this is my profession. To listen, to understand, then to tell.”

Two companies, two territories, one vision

Kathy is in Neuves-Maisons, in Meurthe-et-Moselle. I am based in Bettembourg, Luxembourg. Just a few dozen kilometers apart — but no obstacle to a sincere and productive collaboration.

French and Luxembourgish SMEs have everything to gain by working together. The Grand Est region and the Grand Duchy form a naturally interconnected living area. My area of intervention goes beyond Luxembourg: I work with companies in Lorraine, Belgium, and beyond.
